Harold “Hap” N. May


Harold “Hap” May graduated from Rice University with a degree in Economics and Managerial Studies. Before forming his own firm, Hap was a staff accountant for a local CPA firm and a tax manager for a large real estate developer.

In 1984 Hap formed his own CPA firm concentrating on general tax matters, real estate, and litigation support.

In 1991, Hap graduated magna cum laude from South Texas College of Law, while also maintaining his own accounting practice.

In1997, he expanded his practice to encompass commercial business litigation including cases with significant accounting evidence and accounting issues.

As both an attorney and a CPA, Hap has held many court-appointed engagements. He’s been appointed receiver in suits for partition of real property and Special Master serving under federal district court.

Hap has also been appointed auditor to examine the records of parties involved in real estate ownership disputes and contractual breaches, and has been named as arbitrator in a suit involving 300 property owners and a $20 million settlement. He’s been appointed temporary administrator of many probate estates and attorney ad-litem for heirship determination. Additionally, Hap has served as an expert witness in numerous lawsuits testifying on accounting, real estate and record keeping practices.
