Tax Return Preparation
MMS works for the tax advantage of the estate by filing tax returns on its behalf. We can submit the appropriate documentation to the Internal Revenue Service and establish a time limit for a potential audit.
MMS can aid the trustee in determining the tax liability of the estate after the sale of assets. The most difficult step in this process is determining the cost-basis of assets sold. We can make this determination using prior tax returns, appraisals, real property records, accounting records, third-party information and other evaluation techniques and provide the disclosures necessary to protect the trustee.
In addition to being a CPA, Partner Harold “Hap” May has an LL.M. in tax law, is board-certified in tax and commercial real estate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is licensed in United States tax court.
MMS also fights to collect full tax refunds for the benefit of the estate and ensures the refund goes to the estate.
